Dot 2 Dot Bristol pt 2

The Chapman Family are up next  a great band full of so much energy the crowd seem mesmorised to start with before moving forward and enjoying the show .

The setlist is a short one 1/2 hour although ample time for the faux hanging , guitar slamming antics of frontman Kingsley , random stares and poises of bassman Pop and Gonzo-like assult on the drums by Phil all whilst guitarist Phil gets on with his job quietly almost unnoticed.

From here a trip across Bristol to the packed O2 where the queue of hopefulls to get in streches way down the road all wanting to watch Ellie Goulding .

Those fortunate enough to squeeze in are treated to a faultless performance from this fast rising favourite who kicks of her set with Lights , Every time you go and the now anthemish This love .Ellie and band are well up for the show and seem to thrive from the crowds sing-along attitude I wish I could have stayed to seethe entire set but have to dash off tothe Anson rooms for the next act Los Campesinos!

Los Campesinos are an 8 piece band (3 girls 5 guys) from Cardiff  Uni who are a massive student band and perform a punchy brand of student friendly folk-punk  they are well received here in Bristols student capital personally not my thing and as I want to catch the Mystery Jets I leave after 2 songs .

Back to the O2 which seems even more crammed with youth and a few degrees hotter now although the queues outside have dwindled to a few , into the pit just in time for the curtains to be drawn back to reveal the Mystery Jets back-drop and for them to take the stage to mass cheers.

As usual (been shooting these guys since 2007) they perform their brand of synth powered indie music effortlessly to an adoring audience who sing along to every word.

after 3 songs its upstairs to try and catch Daisy Dares You , whose band is setting up ,Daisy seems more interested in watching the Jets from the balcony so I leave her to it and as my legs are killing me retreat to car and home .

Overview of Dot 2 Dot ?

Positives : great selection of bands , some great venues , laid back approach. great value for money

Negatives: Impossible to view  all the shows you want to , queues to get into shows , lack of signage for destinations .

would I go again? sure would thumbs up team Dot toDot
