KELIS ANNOUNCES NEW UK TOUR DATE

After a storming performance at Glastonbury that had the dance tent packed and pumping on Saturday night, Kelis is set to return to the UK to play more dates later this year. The singer-songwriter has just added a show at Birmingham HMV Institute to her Big Chill and London dates and promises to deliver another amazing show combining hits from the new album Flesh Tone with classic favourites.

With two hit singles (Acapella and 4th Of July (Fireworks)) already released from her new album, Kelis continues to bring music, fashion and a strong a sense of visual identity to the current pop landscape.

To help realise her futuristic vision for Flesh Tone, Kelis worked with several influential producers, including David Guetta on Acapella, will.i.am (who describes her as “a best kept secret”) Free School, Boys Noize, Burns and Benny Benassi. Kelis will be bringing her new neon-daubed dance sound to the UK this summer, with sure-to-be-stellar performances at Glastonbury and The Big Chill as well as a new London date at Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

Kelis debuted in 1999 with Kaleidoscope, which featured the ubiquitous MTV/BET hit “Caught Out There.” The track entered the U.K. Singles Chart at No. 4 and Kelis went on to win a BRIT award (“International Breakthrough Act”), an NME award (“Best R&B/Soul Act”) and a Q award (“Best Music Video” for “Caught Out There”). Over the past 10 years, she has worked with a wide variety of artists, including The Neptunes, Andre 3000, Björk, Enrique Iglesias and Raphael Saadiq. Perhaps best-known for her GRAMMY-nominated, Top 5 smash “Milkshake” and the million-selling ringtone “Bossy,” the fashion icon is also a certified chef and a recent graduate of Le Cordon Bleu.
