Tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2011 have gone on sale with thousands of fans flooding the website.

Passes for next year’s festival cost £195 – up £10 on last year’s price.

The festival’s website and Twitter feedapologised to fans having problems accessing ticket sales online.

But it added: “Some people are getting through and tickets are being sold. Please do keep trying. There are still many thousands of tickets left.”

Fans are able to reserve up to eight tickets by paying a £50 deposit now and the rest when the booking site re-opens on 1 April 2011. However they need to have registered on the site before Sunday.

By 11.55 only 1/4 of the tickets are not sold
