Gloucester Guildhall Presents
They’re being tipped as potentially one of the biggest British exports for years, and now Young Guns bring their combination of lurking hard rock and Lostprophets-style enthusiasm to Gloucester Guildhall on their biggest headline tour to date.
Since releasing their debut EP Mirrors themselves in June 2009, Young Guns’ brazen self-belief seems to be paying off. Hailing from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, the quintet have since completed a sell-out headline tour, gone down a storm at Reading where they a played medley of Arcade Fire, Blink 182 and Guns & Roses songs during their set, and even landed themselves a support slot on the first night of Bon Jovi’s residency at the O2 Arena.
They released their second album in July 2010, and saw it enter at #3 in the UK Independent Album Chart. Described by critics as “a meatier hard-rock & metalcore-influenced take on melodic punk rock”, it’s packed full of enough huge stadium rock moments for it not to feel like a band’s first “proper” release. Latest single Weight of the World, released on November 1st, is an ambitious slice of widescreen rock, combining instrumental muscle with a soaring chorus and is set to follow in the footsteps of previous singles Sons of Apathy and Crystal Clear, which saw the band break into daytime radio with regular play.
If you like your music lovelorn and apocalyptic with a YouMeAtSix edge, start getting excited.
