Carl Barat has confirmed plans for a new single and tour dates early next year.
Carl Barat finally put aside his past this year. From reforming The Libertines to writing his memoirs, it seemed that the songwriter was eager to tie together the loose ends, and put his recent work behind him.
Turning solo, Carl Barat completed work on a reflective batch of new material. The one time Libertine seemed to dwell on failed relationships in his life, including tantalising references to former bandmates.
Stripping back his songwriting, Carl Barat was able to begin building again. By no means perfect, the new solo album points a way out of a creative rut for one of the decade’s most influential songwriters.
Now Carl Barat has confirmed a new single to see out the year. Taken from his recent album, ‘So Long My Lover’ is a languid tale of love lost which finds the songwriter coming to terms with his past.
Recently becoming a father for the first time, Carl Barat is adjusting to a more settled life. Set to finish 2010 with a short trip to Japan, the songwriter will then head back out for a British tour in February.
Opening on February 18th, the tour begins in Norwich before moving around the country. Dates in Glasgow, Manchester are more quickly follow until the nationwide burst of shows come to an end on March 2nd.
Finishing in Sheffield, tickets for the February tour are set to go on sale from November 12th.
