Ska legends Bad Manners bring their farewell tour to Gloucester Guildhall.
Formed in 1976 when they were still at school, Bad Manners took their inspiration from bands such as The Specials, jumping on the ska revival movement that swept through England in the late 70s. They quickly became a household name, spending a total of 111 weeks in the UK charts between 1980-83 with hits such as Lip Up Fatty, Special Brew, Can Can and Walking In The Sunshine. Regulars on Top Of The Pops and Tiswas, they also achieved chart success with their first four studio albums. Since their last single release in 1999 the band have continued to tour UK and Europe tirelessly, as well as releasing a number of albums, the most recent of which, Walking In The Sunshine: The Best of Bad Manners, was hailed by fans as the most comprehensive and best collection of the band’s work to date.
Buster Bloodvessel is the only original remaining member of the band, renowned for his hilarious stage antics and, of course, his rotund form. Some of his greatest accolades include earning the band a lifetime ban from Italian TV for indecently exposing himself after being told The Pope was watching, and opening a hotel exclusively for larger clientele called Fatty Towers, which he ran for two years.
A firm favourite at Gloucester Guildhall, the band have recently said that this Christmas tour will be their last. Buster Bloodvessel said of the shock announcement: “We became famous for many reasons and have shocked the world since our outrageous Top of the Pops performances. It has enabled us to travel the world and make hundreds of thousands of people dance and party crazier than any other band. This Christmas tour will be no different. It’s a very sad moment for us but we intend to leave Britain sweating”. Don’t miss your last chance to see this most remarkable of bands live.
