Gloucester Guildhall Presents
MILES HUNT AND ERICA NOCKALLS
25 years into his musical career and still going, Miles Hunt of The Wonder Stuff brings a mix of new songs and old classics along to Gloucester Guildhall.
Miles Hunt has been the singer, rhythm guitarist & principle songwriter in The Wonder Stuff since 1986. The band continue to write, record & play live to this day but he also finds time to indulge in solo pursuits, often accompanied by other members of the band.
When The Wonder Stuff took an extended break between 1994 and 2000, Hunt spent eighteen months as the presenter for MTV Europe’s alternative music show, 120 Minutes. In 1996 he formed the short-lived Vent 414 with Pete Howard (Queen Adreena) and Morgan Nicholls (Senseless Things, The Streets, Muse) and in 1998 began performing acoustic shows with Malc Treece (The Wonder Stuff) as well as shows in North America with Phil Hurley (Gigolo Aunts).
In 2001 Hunt signed to Eagle Records and made The Miles Hunt Club album with Andres Karu (The Wonder Stuff) and Michael Ferentino (Transfusion M), touring with Stuart Quinnel (The Wonder Stuff) on bass a number of times during the early 2000s.
In 2004 the first Wonder Stuff album in eleven years, Escape From Rubbish Island, was released and was followed up in 2006 by Suspended By Stars. 2006 also saw The Wonder Stuff providing songs for the BBC children’s TV show, Underground Ernie, as well as Hunt releasing a live solo album, Interloper.
The Wonder Stuff took another break in 2007 to allow Hunt to concentrate on writing, recording and touring the Not An Exit album with Wonder Stuff violinist Erica Nockalls. The following year the duo headed over to America on a co-headline tour with Wayne Hussey of The Mission and March 2009 saw the release of second album Catching More Than We Miss.
The Wonder Stuff reunited in 2010 in celebration of the 21st Anniversary of the release of their second album, HUP, completely re-recording the album and embarking on an academy tour.
Erica Nockalls will be joining Hunt for his Guildhall performance which, as per usual with his live shows, is sure to be full of anecdotes from his many years of touring.
