The Wanted for Westonbirt!

May 1, 2012

The Wanted for Westonbirt!

Pop sensation The Wanted will perform a West Country concert this Summer at Westonbirt Arboretum. This is the final act to be announced at the venue as part of Forestry Commission Live Music 2012.

Just 18 months since their huge Number One debut single ‘All Time Low’, The Wanted has already become one ofBritain’s biggest, most brilliant pop bands, living a dream that has far surpassed even their most optimistic expectations. Hard working and quite plainly loving every single second, the band have already notched up a succession of hits, been viewed a staggering 30 million times on YouTube and sold 400,000 copies of their eponymous debut album. ‘Battleground’ their second album is keeping a pace having already generated the hits ‘Lightning’, ‘Gold Forever’, ‘Warzone’ and the Number One Summer dance smash ‘Glad You Came’.

Forestry Commission Live Music concerts are renowned for their relaxed atmosphere, and income generated from ticket sales will be spent on caring for this internationally important tree collection. Westonbirt Arboretum hosts six concerts each summer with full on-site facilities and parking plus a dedicated taxi and private car drop off/pick-up zone.

The band’s Nathan Sykes, who is from Gloucestershire said, “It’s so cool for me to do a home show in such a great place. I’m sure you’ll be glad you came!”

The Wanted plus guests will be appearing:

Friday 20th July, Westonbirt Arboretum, Nr Tetbury, Glos

Tickets £27.50 (subject to booking fee) go on sale at 9.00am Friday 10th February from the Forestry Commission box office tel 03000 680400 or buy online at http://www.forestry.gov.uk/music

The Script are brmb Live 2010’s favourite band!

November 28, 2010

The Script are brmb Live 2010’s favourite band!

Cheque for over £330,000 handed over at the LG Arena event for the ‘Help For Heroes’ campaign! Saturday 28 Novemberjam

All the acts appearing at this year’s brmb Live 2010 were asked to name their favourite band of the moment and Irish band The Script emerged as the overwhelming favourites:

Joe McElderry : ‘I love them – they look and sound great’

The Saturdays: ‘Always try to see them if we can’

Diana Vickers: ‘The Script are up there for me’

And star producer Mark Ronson: ‘Love to collaborate with the Script’

 Other highlights:

Joe McElderry on the current X factor finalists describing One Direction as ‘great’, Rebecca as ‘amazing’, saying Cher has ‘swagger’ and Mary is ‘loud’!

The Saturdays: Think they need ‘more girl group competition’ as they all agreed they’d like to see more girl bands taking on the boys.

Diana Vickers: Seemed nervous before going on stage and didn’t want to be interviewed by Sam and Mark for TV and wouldn’t be photographed before performing – but Sam and Mark admitted she looked fabulous in a ‘little black number’ and she is Olly Murs ‘absolute favourite’.

Alexandra Burke: Equally stunning Alexandra Burke also admitted to feeling nervous before performing. Her tip for X Factor – One Direction.

Example: Found it strange doing only 3 songs but has strange rider requests including fridgemagnets!

Tinchy Stryder: Rider includes Veuve Cliquot!

Hoosiers: Had tea spilled on them by the Script!

James Blunt: Says he’ll be spending ‘Christmas in Afghanistan ‘to make the Taliban surrender’ toured with the Hoosiers who streaked naked on the tour! Received a cheque for the ‘Help For Heroes’ campaign for over £330,000 raised by brmb listeners in the brmb Walkathon! McFly also pictured with representatives from all the services receiving the cheque!

THE WANTED – THE ALBUM

November 11, 2010

‘THE WANTED – THE ALBUM

RELEASE DATE – OCT 25th

GEFFEN RECORDS

The Wanted, the UK’s freshest new boyband, release their debut album ‘The Wanted – The Album’ on October 25th through Geffen Records

The 13-track album is a million miles away from your classic ‘stand-up-for-the-key-change’ and blasts off with #1 smash hit All Time Low, the boy’s anthemic debut single. Forthcoming single Heart Vacancy, which is released a week before the album on October 17th, has already been cited as another chart topper and tipped to be the boy’s second #1 in as many releases.

Max, Tom, Nathan, Jay and Siva have spent the past few months living and working together.   They travelled to Europe where they were co-writing and recording with some pop luminaries for the album.  From Danish pop maestro Cutfather (Christina Aguilera, Pixie Lott, Santana) and Rami & Carl Falk (‘N Sync, Britney Spears) in Sweden to hitmakers Steve Mac (Kelly Clarkson) and the legendary Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams, James Blunt) based in the UK.

There’s a down-to-earth energy to the boys, which translates seamlessly into their music and creates a new sound, incorporating elements of low-slung beats, rock dynamics and modern pop melodies.  “I’d say it was edgy pop, but there’s a bit of rock and indie in there too” says Jay, “It’s taking a risk but it’s certainly not your usual boyband stuff”

Each track will surprise due to the sheer range of sounds within the album, stretching the pop-genre to its absolute limits, and as Nathan says, “We’ve got no time for cheese around here”.  Tracks which include the Guy Chambers produced Let’s Get Ugly with it’s spaghetti western sample, dirty baseline and a echo of a Robbie Williams-past, the more stereo-typically electro-pop of Say It On The Radio, the emotionally, heart-felt indie-ballads Golden and Hi And Low, and the Kings of Leon inspired, rock-filled Lose My Mind.

It’s this energy and span of sounds which means that within a few short months The Wanted have built up a huge fanbase. With over 9 million plays of their videos on Youtube and nearly 250,000 fans on Facebook, these boys have become one of the years biggest breakthroughs and are most definitely here to stay.
